First Lady Michelle Obama promised to deliver the 2010 GW Commencement Address if GW students, faculty, and staff put in 100,000 hours of service that year. GW exceeded 163,000 hours so here she is just prior to delivering her address. FLOTUS is surrounded by President Steven Knapp, a group of student challenge leaders, and Professor Roger Kaufman at the far left in the photo, chosen for his volunteer work to be the University's faculty greeter.

That would be my head poking up between the First Lady and President Knapp. (And they say the Salahi's know how to horn in on a picture!) Dave Brubeck, the feisty 89 year-old jazz pianist and entrepreneur A. James Clark also received honorary doctorates at the ceremony.
